Setting and changing the desired speed

  1. Adaptive cruise control on.
  2. Vehicle moving.
  3. No stationary objects detected ahead.

Setting the desired speed

  1. Press the control stalk on the steering wheel forward (Fig. 2 on page 39, position 1).
    The current speed is saved as the desired speed to be maintained automatically (within a control range from 20 to 100 mph (30 to 160 km/h) and appears orange in the status display B.
    The red triangle G under the bar display for the speed control range indicates the speed of the driver's vehicle.
  2. Release the accelerator pedal.
    The desired speed is automatically maintained provided that a slower vehicle is not detected ahead.

Information
When your vehicle is stationary and the control stalk is pressed forward (position 1), a message appears on the multifunction display: ACC not possible while stationary.

A message also appears on the multifunction display if a stationary object has been detected ahead.


Increasing the desired speed

  • Press the control stalk on the steering wheel forward (setting 1).
    The desired speed setting is increased in increments of 1 mph or (1 km/h).
    – or –
    Hold the control stalk on the steering wheel forward (setting 1).
    The desired speed setting is increased in increments of 5 mph or (10 km/h).
    Status display B indicates the new desired speed.
    The red triangle G under the bar display for the speed control range indicates the speed of the driver's vehicle.

Reduce the desired speed

  • Briefly pull the control stalk on the steering wheel towards the steering wheel (position 2).
    The desired speed setting is reduced in increments of 1 mph or (1 km/h).
    – or –
    Pull and hold the control stalk on the steering wheel toward the steering wheel (setting 2).
    The desired speed setting is reduced in increments of 5 mph or (10 km/h).
    Status display B indicates the new desired speed.
    The red triangle G under the bar display for the speed control range indicates the speed of the driver's vehicle.


Setting the desired distance

The desired distance from the vehicle ahead can be set in four stages.

Information
When the desired distance is set, the "ACC" main menu appears temporarily on the multifunction display.

Press switch Z to display the "ACC" main menu without changing the desired distance.


Information
The distance depends on the driving speed. It reduces as the vehicle slows down and increases as it speeds up.
