Off-Road Mode

In off-road mode, the power transmission and chassis control systems (e.g. ABS) are automatically adapted to the requirements for offroad driving. This ensures the best possible driving dynamics with maximum driving safety.

PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) switches automatically to SPORT PLUS mode. Together with air suspension, the vehicle is raised by approx. 1.6 in. (40 mm) compared with the normal level.

  1. Please see chapter "Using terrain level" on page 220.

Activating off-road mode can be useful in the following situations:

  1. Driving with snow chains.
  2. Driving in deep snow or on loose surfaces.
  3. Driving downhill and braking on loose surfaces.
  4. Driving on uneven surfaces with significantly reduced load on one or more of the wheels (axle articulation).
  5. Rocking the vehicle free when stuck in snow or sand.

Responding to warning symbols

A warning symbol appears in the instrument panel if there is a fault in the gearshift system.

  1. Please see chapter "Warning and Information Messages" on page 327.

Switching off-road mode on/off

Fig. 138: Off-road button

Switching off-road mode on

  1. The vehicle is traveling at a speed of less than approx. 55 mph (90 km/h).
  • Press button .
The light indicator on the button lights up.
The set driving program is also displayed on the multifunction display for a few seconds.

Switching off-road mode off

  • Press button again.
The light indicator on the button goes out.

Off-road mode remains activated even if the driving conditions change, e.g. if the vehicle is then driven on the road. The transmission and chassis control systems then adapt to suit the changed driving conditions.
