With lanes of normal widths, the Lane Change Assist detection area is designed to cover both adjacent lanes (left and right) regardless of whether you are driving exactly in the middle or at the edge of the lane.
When driving in narrow lanes, this area may cover additional lanes, particularly if you are driving at the edge of your lane. In such situations, vehicles driving two lanes away may be detected and Lane Change Assist may switch to the information or warning stage.
Likewise, when driving on very wide lanes, vehicles in the adjacent lane may not be detected as they are outside the detection area.
Setting brightness of warning indicator on door mirror
The brightness of the indicator for the information and warning stage is automatically adjusted according to the ambient brightness.
The basic brightness can also be set on the multifunction display:
Lane Change Assist is not active while the brightness is being adjusted. The indicator only lights up briefly to aid the brightness setting.
