Lane Change Assist (LCA)

Lane Change Assist (LCA) warns the driver about vehicles that are approaching from the rear or are located in the blind spot. This applies both when overtaking other vehicles and when being overtaken. Integrated warning indicators in both door mirrors light up as soon as a dangerous situation is identified and changing lanes seems essential.

Radiofrequency Radiation Exposure
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with minimum distance of 8 in. (20 cm) between the radiator and your body. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.

Switching Lane Change Assist on and off

Switching Lane Change Assist on

  • Press button A.
The light indicator on the button lights up.

Switching Lane Change Assist off

  • Press button A again.
The light indicator on the button goes out.

Lack of attention
The Lane Change Assist is not a substitute for the driver's attentiveness. The driver is still responsible for taking due care when changing lanes.

  • Observe the direction of travel and the relevant area around the vehicle closely at all times.

Restricted range of the radar sensor
The range of the radar sensor can be reduced in tight corners, on undulating roads and in adverse weather conditions (rain, snow, ice, heavy spray). Vehicles will not be recognized adequately or not at all.

  • Observe the direction of travel and the relevant area around the vehicle closely at all times.

Undetected vehicles

  1. Lane Change Assist cannot alert you in time to vehicles approaching at high speed from behind or vehicles that are falling back.
  2. Lane Change Assist does not work in tight corners (curve radius of less than 330 ft. (100 m)).
  3. Lane Change Assist only alerts you to approaching vehicles or vehicles in the blindspot above a driving speed of approx. 20 mph (30 km/h).

This may lead to hazardous situations.

  • Observe the direction of travel and the relevant area around the vehicle closely at all times.

General information

  1. The system provides assistance on freeways and country highways at a driving speed between approx. 20 and 155 mph (30 km/h and 250 km/h).
  2. The display is designed so that you notice it merely by glancing at the door mirror.
  3. Lane Change Assist is not available if the system recognizes that the radar sensors of the Lane Change Assist are covered.
  4. The radar sensors can sometimes detect other objects (e.g. high or raised crash barriers), not only vehicles.

Information

  • If the positions of the radar sensors are changed e.g. following a rear impact collision, the Lane Change Assist system must be checked by an authorized Porsche dealer for safety reasons.
