Cruise control

Cruise control maintains the selected speed between approx. 20 and 150 mph (30 and 240 km/h) without the user having to press the accelerator.

It is operated via the lower left lever on the steering wheel.

1Set/increase the desired speed
2Reduce the desired speed
3Interrupt cruise control operation (OFF)
4Resume the stored speed (RESUME)

Information
Active braking interventions are automatically performed to be able to better maintain the preselected speed (especially when driving downhill).

Unsafe traffic situations and unfavorable road conditions
Using cruise control can lead to an accident if the prevailing traffic situation does not allow you to drive at a sufficient distance and constant speed.

  • Do not use cruise control in heavy traffic, on windy stretches of road or in treacherous conditions (e.g. wintery conditions, wet roads, varying road surfaces).
  • Observe all local and national speed limits.
  • Do not reach through the steering-wheel spokes while driving.

Switching cruise control readiness on

  • Press button A on the control stalk.

Cruise control readiness
The gray symbol on the multifunction display indicates readiness.

Maintaining and storing the speed

  1. Accelerate or decelerate to the desired speed using the gas pedal.
  2. Tap the control stalk on the steering wheel forward (setting 1).

Desired speed
The speed currently being driven is displayed under the cruise control symbol, which has now turned orange, and automatically maintained.

Changing the speed

  • To increase speed, press the control stalk on the steering wheel forward (Fig. 56 on page 100, 1).
    Brief touch = 1 mph (1 km/h), press and hold = 5 mph (10 km/h)
  • To reduce speed, pull the control stalk towards the steering wheel (Fig. 56 on page 100, 2).
    Brief touch = 1 mph (1 km/h), pull and hold = 6 mph (10 km/h)
The newly set desired speed is shown on the multifunction display.

Information
The speed can be increased using the gas pedal as usual. This does not change the stored value; it is resumed after the pedal is released.

Interrupting cruise control operation – OFF

The speed driven before the interruption remains stored in the memory and can be resumed by pressing the control stalk.

  1. Please see chapter "Resuming the stored speed – RESUME" on page 101.
  • Press the control stalk down (Fig. 56 on page 100, 3)
    – or –
  • Press the brake pedal or move the PDK selector lever to position N.
